What’s better than a weekend of amazing music with your friends? A weekend of amazing music with your friends… on the beach!
Sunday marked the close of another successful year of Hangout Music Festival. Held on the Gulf shores of Alabama, Hangout Fest is a tropical paradise and Vibedration favorite. It’s just like Fyre Fest, only there’s actually music, and the US embassy didn’t have to evacuate anyone.
Our Vibedration ambassadors were on the scene spreading good vibes all weekend. Speaking of ambassadors, sign up to become one and you could win a helicopter ride and shuffle lesson from Elena Cruz. Click here for more details.
The Music
Friday went off without a hitch, but it was insanely hot. That didn’t stop big names like Mac Demarco, MGMT, Weezer, and Dillon Francis from taking the stage though. The lineup was stacked, but A$AP Ferg’s set was the most lit by far. The crowd went crazy during his performance and ended up forming an impressively large mosh pit.
Having a hydration pack under the blazing Alabama sun is crucial, especially when you’re dancing on the beach all day.
Friday’s brutal heat gave way to Saturday’s clouds as thunderstorms threatened to ruin the fun. The lineup was set with another talented roster including Local Natives, Band of Horses, and Sigur Ros. Unfortunately, the weather took a turn for the worst, and festival organizers had to move 21 Pilots’ headliner set up 30 minutes to try and beat the rain. They got a solid performance in even though they were cut off halfway into “Car Radio” due to severe weather.
Check out their performance here:
It eventually cleared up on Sunday for an amazing last day of the festival. Everyone was happy to be back in the sun, and the good vibes were flowing. The final day’s magical lineup had a staggering amount of talent including Franz Ferdinand, Marshmello, Young the Giant, Shaggy, Lil Yachty, Mumford and Sons, and Chance the Rapper. We loved Chance the Rapper’s performance and were delighted to see the up-and-coming band Lawrence perform an amazing set on the BMI Stage.
The Hangout Fest gossip this year was centered around DJ Snake, who mysteriously cancelled his set and deleted his Instagram and Twitter accounts this weekend. Snake hasn’t released a statement on his cancellation, but we wish him all the best.
Music Festival Gear & Hydration Packs
Like we said before, it was HOT this weekend on the Gulf Coast. Vibing out with friends on the beach all weekend is exhausting, and it can be dangerous if you don’t have a way to stay hydrated. From Coachella Hippie to Ultra Rave Rat, we have designs to match everyone’s style. Our new glitter packs are becoming a big hit, get one for your next festival.
This weekend, we saw some amazing music festival gear. From steampunk hipster to sporty attire, the Hangout Fest crowd is a diverse one. This festival sees more skin and bathing suits than your average festival because, well, it’s on a beach!
The Hangout
The first thing you see when you enter Hangout Fest is a giant “shaka hand” statue. It’s the official logo of Hangout Fest, and their mantra, “be nice or go home”, is true to the atmosphere. The Hangout crowd is a welcoming one, and there were good vibes all weekend.
Hangout Fest is so much more than a music festival. You can swim in the ocean, ride a ferris wheel, test your skills on an obstacle course, and even get married at a wedding chapel. Did we mention there’s a dog kissing booth? Yeah, there’s a dog kissing booth.
Hangout Fest was a dream come true, and we’re already planning our outfits for Hangout Fest 2018. For updates on the latest festival happenings, contests, and hydration pack designs, be sure to subscribe to our newsletter to stay informed. As always, find us on social @vibedration.
