2017 is almost over and we’ve been keeping the vibe running and keeping you hydrated all year long. We’ve been together for over 20 music festivals this year and there are many more to come! In the meantime, here’s a recap of 12 of our favorite festivals to keep you looking forward to 2018!
1. Okeechobee Festival: Enter the Portal
We kicked off festival season in the “Tropical Paradise” of Okeechobee, Florida on the first weekend of March with the Okeechobee Music Festival 2017. With the festival spread across five stages and over 100 artists, the community is on the lookout for next years' performance with Bassnectar, GRiZ, The Japanese House and Porter Robertson.
Feed your mind, body and spirit once again as early bird passes are on sale now for the Okeechobee 2018. The Okeechobee 2018 lineup just dropped and we can't wait to enter the portal together on March 1-4 of next year!
2. Ultra Music Festival: Better than Spring Break
There’s no stopping the Vibe Tribe as we skipped along to Ultra Music Festival 2017 in Miami! With over 55,000 people and performances from Alesso, Kygo, Axwell & Ingrosso and Hardwell, make sure to drop everything for the next one! The dates are set for March 23-25 next year and we can’t wait for the Ultra 2018 lineup to drop! Here is what our Ultra 2017 experience looked like:
3. Beyond Wonderland 2017: The Endless Sea
Next was Beyond Wonderland 2017 - the first time in five long years! With The Endless Sea vibe and rave mermaids all over San Bernardino, Beyond Wonderland was sure fire with acts from Alison Wonderland, 12th Planet, and Paul Van Dyk. There are no confirmed dates yet for Beyond Wonderland 2018 but just like this year, you’ll definitely see us there!
4. Coachella Music Festival
What is festival life if we’re not at Coachella!? Coachella is a unique festival that is set in the Indio desert on a polo field surrounded by palm trees, mountains and magical sunsets. This year, the Vibe Tribe stayed in a hotel where we could chill by the pool each day before going into the festival. We also tried out VIP this year and it did not disappoint! If you hate waiting in line for a drink or the bathroom, VIP is the way to go! Did we mention we met Marshmello at the VIP bar?
This year, we saw a mix of bohemian style outfits and bodysuits with holographic touches. Coachella can reach over 100 degrees Fahrenheit during the day and as low as 50 degrees at night, so it's important to bring something warm when you enter the festival.
If you haven't been to Coachella before, a few of the must-dos are dancing to some good beats at the Do Lab, riding the ferris wheel overlooking all of Coachella and seeing the Sunday night closing headliner. Here is how our Coachella 2017 went down:
They say the best things in life can’t last forever but you can definitely sign up for Coachella 2018. You can attend Weekend One on April 13-15 or Weekend Two on April 20-22 or you know, have the best of both worlds and go to both! We hope to see you at Coachella 2018 - we heard Beyoncé will be there!
5. Hangout Fest: Festival on the Beach
What’s better than a music-filled weekend with your friends? A weekend of amazing music with your friends… on the beach! Hangout Fest was held on the Gulf shores of Alabama and it really was a tropical paradise and a Vibedration favorite.
The first thing you see when you enter Hangout Fest is a giant “shaka hand” statue. It’s the official logo of Hangout Fest, and their mantra, “be nice or go home”, is true to the atmosphere. The Hangout crowd is a welcoming one, and there were good vibes all weekend. Hangout Fest is so much more than a music festival. You can swim in the ocean, ride a ferris wheel, test your skills on an obstacle course, and even get married at a wedding chapel.
Having a hydration pack under the blazing Alabama sun is crucial, especially when you’re dancing on the beach all day. Friday’s brutal heat gave way to Saturday’s clouds as thunderstorms threatened to ruin the fun, but it eventually cleared up on Sunday for an amazing last day of the festival. Everyone was happy to be back in the sun, and the good vibes were flowing. The final day’s magical lineup had a staggering amount of talent including Franz Ferdinand, Marshmello, Young the Giant, Shaggy, Lil Yachty, Mumford and Sons, and Chance the Rapper. We loved Chance the Rapper’s performance and were delighted to see the up-and-coming band Lawrence perform an amazing set on the BMI Stage.
Hangout Fest was a dream come true, and we’re already planning our outfits for Hangout Fest 2018, which will be held on the Gulf Shores on May 18-20. To read more on Hangout Fest, check out our full blog.
6. Lightning in a Bottle
This past Memorial Day Weekend, thousands of music lovers traded backyard BBQ’s and sandy beaches for a transformative festival experience at the Lightning in a Bottle Arts and Music Festival.
Held on the lakeside meadows of Bradley, CA, this festival isn’t just about the music. Lightning in a Bottle is meant to be a diverse, interactive experience with workshops, classes, and other artistic attractions abound.
The weather was beautiful for this year’s Lightning in a Bottle festival. For the first time in the festival’s history, Lake San Antonio was full enough that attendees were able to chill and swim in it. There was almost too much to do. We did yoga, listened to speeches, frolicked around, danced, and interacted with inspiring art. The Do LaB, an LA art collective that produced the festival, is known for their interactive art pieces, and they did not disappoint.
Lightning in a Bottle 2018 is set to take place May 23-28 and Early Bird Tier 1 tickets are already sold out! We suggest getting the Early Bird tickets when they're back on sale because the first night in the campground is one you don't want to miss!
A staggering 60,000 Bonnaroovians traveled to Manchester, Tennessee for the 2017 Bonnaroo Music & Arts festival to experience positivity, camping, and of course, great music. With good vibes and great weather all weekend, Bonnaroo’s 16th year went off without a hitch.
Bonnaroo wouldn’t be complete without a trip to the Wall surrounding Centeroo. If you’ve ever been to the festival, it’s a rite of passage to draw something or sign your name on the wall. With art created by festival goers and professional artists alike, the wall is magical and shouldn’t be missed!
We’re already looking forward to Bonnaroo 2018. Will you be there? We hope so.
8. EDC Las Vegas
In a sea of summer music festivals, the Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas, Nevada stands out from the rest. Every year since 2011, hundreds of thousands of beautiful people descend on the Las Vegas Motor Speedway for three nights of circus themed raving, dancing, and life-celebrating.
We sent the Vibe Tribe ambassadors out to EDC to promote PLUR (Peace, Love, Unity and Respect) and spread the word about the best hydration pack for music festivals!
Leading up to EDC, we held our "Shuffle 'n Fly" contest, where our Vibedration ambassadors had the chance to submit a video for a chance to win shuffle lessons with Elena Cruz and TMack AND a helicopter ride into EDC with the Vibe Tribe! It was amazing to say the least and we all had an unforgettable weekend.
The Las Vegas speedway transforms into a sensory overload of LED lights and artwork, the stage designs rival those of Tomorrowland, and circus performers run rampant through the rave grounds. Of course, EDC wouldn’t be a carnival without rides, and there were plenty available for everyone to unleash their inner child.
The Las Vegas heat is no joke and it is easy to get away with wearing little to nothing. It is normal at EDC to wear anything from pasties and booty shorts to bodysuits and fairy wings. The party doesn't start till night fall and you are likely to stay warm till the sun comes up.
EDC Las Vegas 2018 will be held May 18-20 this year and the festival is adding something new this time...camping! You will definitely catch us avoiding the terrible EDC traffic and pitching a tent where all the action is.
9. Electric Forest
Our personal favorite music festival this year would have to be Electric Forest in Rothbury, Michigan! How can we not love this festival since we were the Official Hydration Pack of Electric Forest 2017 - with probably the best looking chill station out there. Hydration never looked this cool.
Some of the artists present during both weekends were The String Cheese Incident and Lotus. Black Tiger Sex Machine, Flume, and RL Grime were there as well as our forever favorite, Bassnectar who fits perfectly in the quirky vibe of Electric Forest. Don’t wander off too far in the Sherwood Forest as Electric Forest 2018 is just months away on the June 21-24 and June 28-July 1! We can’t wait to explore the forest with you again and keep an eye out for the Electric Forest lineup 2018!
10. Lost Lands: The Prehistoric Festival
Excision debuted his first ever Jurassic-themed bass music festival, Lost Lands. (Cue the Jurassic Park theme song.) Lost Lands 2017 was held in Thornville, Ohio and featured a staggering 500,000 watts of bass and a sound engineering setup that was applauded by veteran headbangers.
The positive vibes at Lost Lands were unreal, and we’re not just saying that. The inaugural year of any music festival is bound to attract the most dedicated fans, and Lost Lands was no exception. It brought out a crowd of dedicated bassheads and headbangers who truly understand and embody the meaning of PLUR. We didn’t have one negative experience all weekend.
Lost Lands returns in 2018! Tickets will go on sale December 1st, and trust us, you'll want to avoid the FOMO and attend Lost Lands next year!
11. Halloween Festivals: We Couldn't Pick Just One!
Our Halloween weekend was also filled up with events and we made sure to be at Escape Halloween 2017, Something Wicked Festival 2017 and Suwannee Hulaween 2017.
All of SoCal’s finest freaks, creeps, and geeks gathered this past Halloween weekend at the NOS Events Center for Insomniac’s Escape Halloween 2017. Escape Halloween 2017 brought out the Psycho Circus theme along with the trippiest costumes around. Temperatures were warmer than the normal October sweater weather (global warming, we’re looking at you). Thankfully there were free hydration stations throughout the festival, with filtered and UV sterilized water, where the Vibe Tribe was able to refill their Holographic hydration packs and stay hydrated—and haunted—the whole weekend.
Something Wicked Festival 2017 took place at the Sam Houston Race Park in Houston, Texas and was decked out in eerie décor and creepy costumes. This year's theme was The Asylum, which is worse than a horror house, and almost scared the hydration pack right off our shoulders! Putting aside the scary vibes, there were over 70 DJs such as DJ Snake, Marshmello, Zedd and Tiesto to keep the energy flowing all weekend long. It was more like a Hallo-win!
Last Halloweekend, Suwannee Hulaween celebrated its 5th anniversary at The Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, Florida. The music festival is traditionally known for a lineup full of jam bands, but this year featured its most EDM-heavy lineup yet, and we loved every second of it.
For those who haven't been to Suwannee Music Park, it should be added to your bucket list of music venues to check out. The grounds are encapsulated in moss-covered trees, which run along the Suwannee River and set the stage for a truly mystical experience. Suwannee Hulaween takes the majestic vibe one step further with its annual presentation of the Spirit Lake, which is a visual arts extravaganza featuring art installations, mesmerizing lights, holographic art mazes and performance art. Our minds were blown and our senses were overwhelmed by the interactive art, insane views, and even a Silent Disco that ran all the way up until 6 AM each night.
12. EDC Orlando
To cap off festival season, we went to EDC Orlando 2017, and boy, was it a trip. With surreal stages in Tinker Field such as the kineticFIELD, circuitGROUNDS and neonGARDEN, it’s no surprise that more than 80,000 were present. There were crazy rides, art installations fusing nature and technology, and Insomniac’s Funkdafied Freaks who are cirque crews that added to the weekend carnival vibes.
The lineup was a blast and featured Diplo, Marshmello, Kaskade and Zedd to end the perfect EDC Orlando weekend. Just as Insomniac always says, applause to the most important headliner of all - us.
Anything goes at a festival that encourages its “headliners” to embrace love, life, individuality. Because of that, we witnessed a wide range of outfits, from all-out outfits made from bed sheets, to effortless tie dye t-shirts. The majority of what we saw, though, were rad two-piece sets, bright leotards, lots of fishnets and leg wraps, and tons of glitter and jewels.
EDC Orlando 2018 dates aren't out yet, but be sure to check back with us for more details to come! You know we'll be there!
