This weekend, a staggering 60,000 Bonnaroovians traveled to Manchester, Tennessee for the 2017 Bonnaroo Music & Arts festival to experience positivity, camping, and of course, great music. With good vibes and great weather all weekend, Bonnaroo’s 16th year went off without a hitch.
We sent our Vibe Tribe ambassadors to Bonnaroo to hang out and spread the word about the best hydration pack for music festivals. See how you can sign up to be a Vibe Tribe ambassador at your favorite music festival.
Bonnaroo usually has the most impressive lineup of the summer, and this year was no different. The festival has jam band roots, but as organizers compete to remain relevant in the face of so many summer music festivals, the lineup has come to favor pop and EDM more than rock and folk.
Even so, Bonnaroo didn’t forget its roots; legendary rockers U2 headlined the festival (their last festival set was in 1983) along with an impressive roster of rock and folk artists.
We started off Friday with a 5 hour barrage of top tier music. British indie trio The xx killed on the main stage, directly followed by Glass Animals and U2. The younger crowd at Bonnaroo showed they still have an appreciation for rock when U2 headlined the main stage. The crowd was singing along to an impressive amount of songs, and U2 gave a praiseworthy performance.
After U2, the night was far from over. Major Lazer played until the early morning, and breathed an unreal amount of energy into the first night of the festival.
There’s an overwhelming amount of artists at Bonnaroo and you would think it’d be hard to see all of your favorites. Thankfully, Bonnaroo is also one of the best run festivals around, and we saw mostly everyone we wanted to.
As if Friday wasn’t perfect enough, Saturday brought back to back sets of Future Islands, Chance the Rapper, Cage the Elephant, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Flume, and Umphrey’s McGee. Pretty incredible, right? To top it off, Chance the Rapper participated in Bonnaroo’s patented Superjam, where artist come together to collaborate for a once off jam on stage. Chance covered Outkast, Dr. Dre, and Snoop Dogg with a handful of other amazing artists. It’s hard to pick a favorite from Saturday, but RHCP are festival vets, and they put on an unforgettable show.
To close out the weekend, Milky Chance, Lorde, Travis Scott, and The Weeknd all performed, representing a bold venture into pop music for the final day of the festival. The crowd went wild for the Weeknd, so we can only imagine that Bonnaroo 2018 will bring out some more pop heavyweights.
The Bonnaroo 2017 Experience
Bonnaroo is massive, and there’s much more to do than vibe out to music. There are community workshops, yoga sessions, plenty of art, water installations, and even a 5k run around the festival. Bonnaroo has a strong sense of community, and the good vibes hit you as soon as you enter the festival.
Bonnaroo wouldn’t be complete without a trip to the Wall surrounding Centeroo. If you’ve ever been to the festival, it’s a rite of passage to draw something or sign your name on the wall. With art created by festival goers and professional artists alike, the wall is magical and shouldn’t be missed!
The Best Hydration Pack for Music Festivals
Sharing a farm with 60,000 people for a weekend is tricky. Lines are to be expected, which means getting access to water can be a pain. Dancing and festival antics under the sun will take a toll on your body if you aren’t properly hydrated. Luckily, Vibedration’s designer hydration packs are perfect for festivals like Bonnaroo.
Stay cool and express yourself with our different styles ranging from Coachella hippy to EDC trippy. Our designer hydration packs are the perfect accent to your favorite music festival outfit. This year, we saw a lot of tie-dye and a variety of outfits as diverse as the crowd itself. Check out some of our favorites.
Sadly this perfect weekend had to end. We want to give a big shout out to the Vibe Tribe and every one else that came out and spread the positive vibes. We’re already looking forward to Bonnaroo 2018. Will you be there? We hope so.
